Welcome to our public consultation website for the proposed extension to the existing Lesley Abbeycentre shopping centre.
Proposals are being brought forward for an extension to the existing Lesley Abbeycentre shopping centre to provide additional retail floorspace and cafe/restaurant units, reconfiguration and extension of car parking, landscaping and associated site works.
About Lesley Abbeycentre
Lesley Abbeycentre is a spacious indoor shopping destination located just 6 miles from Belfast City Centre. Home to over 70 stores under one roof, features popular retailers such as Next, Primark, Dunnes Stores, and Boots.
Situated in one of the borough’s most vibrant retail and leisure hubs, Lesley Abbeycentre is surrounded by top attractions and facilities, including the Valley Leisure Centre with V36 and Skate100, as well as Valley Retail Park, Abbey Retail Park, Abbey Trading Estate, Longwood Retail Park, and Shore Road Retail Park.
About the Consultation Team
The applicant is supported by a consultancy team which includes Turley, the Planning and Communication Consultants and Hughes McMichael acting as the project architects.
We are currently undertaking pre-application community consultation to understand your views on the proposal prior to the submission of a full planning application to Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council. During this period, we will be delivering an in-person consultation event and will be utilising digital feedback tools, to ensure we capture the views of everyone with an interest in the proposal.

Join our public information event
On Thursday 11th September 2025, we hosted a public information event at The concourse area outside the existing Argos unit, Lesley Abbeycentre, Longwood Road, Newtownabbey, BT37 9UH, from 3-7pm.
The session was well attended by a range of residents and interested members of the public with members of the project team on hand to provide answers to a range of questions.
